There’s something about a spring wedding in Texas that just feels hopeful – fresh blooms, soft color palettes, and that quiet excitement that comes with a new season beginning. Olivia and Damon’s wedding day at Hawthorn Hills Ranch in Krum, Texas was exactly that: romantic, joyful, and full of unforgettable moments (including a little Texas weather drama).
As a Dallas wedding photographer, I get to witness so many beautiful celebrations, but this one truly stood out for how present everyone was, from the couple to every single guest who showed up ready to celebrate.
Hawthorn Hills Ranch is such a stunning Dallas wedding venue, especially in the spring. With its open landscapes, rustic charm, and elegant details, it’s the perfect blend of laid-back and refined which is ideal for couples who want something that feels both elevated and welcoming.
Olivia and Damon leaned fully into the season with a color palette of buttery yellow and soft green. It felt light, romantic, and effortlessly spring-forward—proof that a rustic wedding venue can still host a truly elegant wedding when styled intentionally.

If you’ve planned a spring wedding in Texas, you know the weather always likes to keep things interesting. The day was hot and humid, and as their outdoor ceremony began, dark clouds slowly rolled in. One of those moments where everyone is watching the sky but staying hopeful.
They made it through the ceremony just in time, but about 45 minutes later, during bride and groom portraits, the first sprinkles started falling. They grabbed each other’s hands and ran inside just as the skies opened up into a full Texas downpour.
And honestly? It couldn’t have been more perfect.

While the rain poured outside, the reception kicked off inside and it was an absolute blast. The energy in the room was contagious. The people Olivia and Damon surround themselves with clearly love them deeply, and that kind of joy filled every moment of the night.
Then, just before sunset, the clouds cleared.
We stepped back outside for a few quiet moments together, and the sky rewarded us with the most beautiful sunset – soft light, fresh air after the storm, and a calm that felt like a deep exhale after a full day of emotion. Those sunset portraits were intimate, romantic, and such a perfect reflection of who they are together.

Olivia and Damon’s day was a reminder that perfection doesn’t come from perfect conditions, it comes from being fully present. Rain, heat, surprises and all, their wedding was heartfelt, romantic, and deeply joyful.
As a Texas wedding photographer, these are the days I love most: when couples trust the process, lean into the moment, and celebrate their love exactly as it unfolds.
If you’re planning a wedding in Texas and want photos that feel natural, heartfelt, and true to how the day actually unfolds, I’d love to connect.
I’m a Dallas wedding photographer capturing romantic wedding days for couples who value presence over perfection.
